What is SpiritLive?
SpiritLive is a new web-based communications program for Catholic institutions. The SpiritLive system is based on an easy-to-use website that enables all parishes, schools, hospitals and other organisations to easily communicate with their local communities via a website, professional looking e-mail newsletters, and traditional printed bulletins and handouts.
Is SpiritLive sponsored by the Catholic Church?
SpiritLive is a Church Resources initiative. Church Resources is a charitable Catholic trust that operates under the auspices of the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
What kind of service does it offer?
The SpiritLive package includes hosting of your website and access to the SpiritLive website authoring tool that allows you to modify your local content at any time. In addition, all SpiritLive sites will be automatically updated with information from the diocese, national and international Catholic news, as well as a spiritual reflection. SpiritLive will also allow you to create automatic e-mail newsletters complied from information from your site, as well as printed bulletins and handouts.
What are the benefits of SpiritLive?
Using SpiritLive gives you many benefits including the ability
to:
- Increase the service and accessibility of the Catholic Church
and Catholic institutions.
- Conserve resources, time and money by using one simple tool
to create a web presence, update your organisation's current
news and events, develop newsletters in both e-mail and printed
format.
- Disseminate the latest Catholic news and information about
issues important to your community.
- Get your community more involved and engaged with the work
and mission of your parish, school or organisation.
- Provide a broader Catholic perspective on regional, national,
and international events with automatically updated content
feeds from trusted Catholic sources.
- Provide enriching spiritual reflections that members of
your community can easily access on-line from anywhere at
any time.
- Interact with individuals in your community through e-mail
and informative e-mail newsletters.
- Develop engaging printed bulletins and handouts that can
be distributed in traditional printed format.
- Actively respond to Pope John Paul II’s call to bring the
Catholic Church on-line.
How does SpiritLive work?
The SpiritLive system is based on an easy-to-use website. Each parish, school, hospital and Catholic organisation can now have their own seven page site built by FulfilNET. The site will feature:
- Four pages of local information, news and a calendar of events.
- National and international Catholic news and spiritual reflection supplied directly to the site by Church Resources.
- Diocesan news supplied directly by the diocese.
In addition, the SpiritLive system has special features that allow information on the site to be easily and automatically exported into a professional e-mail newsletter or a printed bulletin. SpiritLive also includes an easy to use e-mail system so that organisations can interact via e-mail with their local community.
What makes SpiritLive different from a regular website?
Traditional websites offer limited functionality, can be expensive and time consuming to maintain and often require a high degree of technical expertise to make an attractive looking site. The SpiritLive system is designed to be a comprehensive communication tool, allowing organisations to simply combine website, e-mail, and print communication tasks into one, easy-to-use system. It also allows local organisations to automatically take advantage of international and regional content supplied by trusted Catholic sources.
What if I already have a website; can you "link" it to my existing site?
Yes. Simply give us the address of your existing website, and we will create a link to it on your SpiritLive site.
How long will it take me to build my SpiritLive site?
FulfilNET, the Church Resources technical partner for SpiritLive, builds your initial SpirtLive site for you with information you provide in the SpiritLive Content Collection Booklet. After that you can edit and update it with easy to use on-line tools. Easy to follow instructions are available as you use the system, so you can learn as you go. And you don’t have to do a thing to receive dioceses, national and international news and reflections – it's delivered to your site automatically!
How much does it cost?
It costs $100 for the initial set up and then $50 a month for hosting. Some dioceses are paying for their parishes and schools to sign up. Please check with Church Resources at 02 9439 2622 for further details about payment schedules for individual dioceses.
What do I need to start?
